Gringa is a musical collective for culturally confused women navigating the globalized, digitized world. Gringa plays Brazilian covers from artists like Jorge Ben Jor, Djavan, and Luis Gonzaga, as well as originals that put a Latin spin on American pop and feature lyrics in English and Portuguese.
Originally from Bulgaria, Zori Marinova (Audiobraille, Radio Sofia, UNIT 432) plays congas, cajon, vibes, and other percussion. She lends Afro-Cuban color and soul to the songs.
Funkiest white girl in town, Kate Pittard (Afrolicious, Audiobraille, TropiCali) sings and plays sax, triangle and shaker. Her scorching solos and songwriting light up the music.
Original gringa Maya Finlay (Sang Matiz, BrazilVox, TropiCali) sings and plays guitar and cavaquinho. Fluent in Portuguese, world traveler Maya brings a little hip hop feel to her songwriting, as well as sound engineering expertise to the project.
